NMB PG35L-048 Geared Stepper Motor

  • Drive Voltage: 12v

These motors have the following improvements:
  • 20mm drive shaft
  • "D" flat on shaft
  • 1000mm 26 awg lead wires
These motors are NEW, specifically made for UltiBots. They have the part # PG35L-D48-UCH4A because of improvements listed above.
 
NOTE: When using A4988 stepper drivers we recommend setting VREF to 275mV. Also keep retract ≤ 30mm/sec.  We recommend active cooling using a duct like http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:52110.  We also have short fin heatsink and long fin heatsink for custom applications.

    In attempts to reduce vibration and weight on my efector I ditched the fan and ran a heatsink with a silver thermal paste interface. I have ran this in a 60deg C enclosure for 24 hours straight many times and have not seen any drop in performance.

    Powerful enough to drive 1.75mm direct drive on a UM2 clone. Great combo with mk7 gear.

    Careful not to over tighten the spring on your extruder assembly as it may damage the gear.

    *** UltiBots Added *** We recommend extruder designs with support bearings for the drive shaft. Without this support, premature gear wear is possible.

    When using in configuration.h after making changes on the web GUI but before updating to RAMBO via Arduino IDE edit the following manually to this:

    You can change microstepping to something else of course but it's a good default


  4. Good extruder motor, but keep an eye on your fan

    I bought this to replace one just like it. Unfortunately, my fan came unconnected and I didn't know it. These motors MUST be cooled. This one seized from heat. Part of the problem is that I am sending too much power to it, but with Rambo, I haven't found a way to regulate that like on the Ramps with separate controller boards.

    *** UltiBots Edit *** On RAMBo edit Configuration_adv.h. Find line #define DIGIPOT_MOTOR_CURRENT {64,64,64,48,48}. The value 48 is a good value for PG35Ls.

  6. Great extruder motor with a world of torque

    This is a fantastic little extruder motor that never stops pushing. It's small so it'll fit where any other stepper would (with the right mount holes), it's geared so your extruder never skips and you get more extrusion resolution, it weighs less than standard steppers, and it's quiet.

    One thing to keep in mind is that you won't get high speeds out of this motor at 12V. I was able to run mine at 10mm/s retract consistently using a printrboard with a 12V supply. At 24V (taurino power board) I run mine at 25mm/s retract with very nice results.

    When you don't know what your doing this motor will run too hot... adjust your trim pot and this motor will outlast all your others
