 Product Reviews

  1. Good but instructions would help

Posted by Unknown on 30th Mar 2016

The extruder appears to be working well, which is the main thing.

There were some issues with the part, it was not perfectly printed, and I found it impossible to get one of the main ball bearings seated. Since I was replacing an existing extruder, I was able to marry the two parts, but this was not good.

There is a link to some instructions in one of the reviews (should be in the main product description) but these do not correspond exactly to the part here. I have some leftover parts, notably the two black end caps that I suspect are meant to turn the bolts, but I don't know how to attach them -- pushing them onto the bolt heads does not work.

*** UltiBots Added *** Printed plastic parts with build in supports require some cleanup with drills and/or exacto knives to clean the holes and recess cavities. The 8mm idler shaft is a tight fit by design and may require the use of a vice to "snap" in. Also, we recommend using a vice to press fit the M4 plastic thumb heads to the M4 screws. Please use the webstore "Contact Us" link for further assistance.

  2. Probably the best printed extruder

Posted by Zach on 14th Sep 2015

I bought this extruder to replace the stock acrylic extruder that came with my Kossel Clear from Blue Eagle Labs. At first I had a lot of trouble with kinking/breaking filament, but that was a result of a jammed hot end. After I cleared up the jam, this extruder pushed ABS though my bowden setup at 100mm/minute no problem (.4mm hot end). Note that this extruder needs a little modification to install a bowden fitting.

I should also add that with my reprap printer, a good starting point for Esteps/mm setting was around 620.

As far as color and quality go, they are perfect. The black is dark and the print is strong and high tolerance.

  3. Quick Shipping, Thanks

Posted by Unknown on 1st Jan 2015

I ordered this because lulzbot was out of stock on these parts which I needed for my TAZ4 which uses the Budaschnozzle hot end.

When I ordered, it was mentioned somewhere in the ordering process that there was a 5-7 day wait so I was expecting that.

I ordered on Dec. 28th at 7:45pm and it arrived at my door in CO on the 31st.

Needed to play with washers to get the hobbled bolt to line up correctly, but this took all of a minute.

Thanks for getting this to me so soon.

    Im speechless....in a good way

    Thanx

  4. great quality print, lots of fun colors

Posted by Jim Nieberding on 7th Jun 2014

Since Makerbot went corporate and turned their back on the community they helped create by not supporting the Thing-O-Matic, I ordered one of these to replace my broken TOM stepstruder. This required a little modification- drilling out the spur gear and carefully lining up new holes drilled into the TOM's Z, but in the end it worked magnificently.

I docked one star because it took an unnecessary amount of hunting to find instructions to assemble the unit, and only found them off ultibot's site. If you sell the printed parts and you sell the hardware kit, why in the world didn't you include an assembly sheet with the order or at least have a link somewhere on the site?

*** UltiBots Edit *** We recommend...

Note the plastics and hardware are similar but not exact.

  5. Worked great

Posted by Jeremy on 17th Jan 2014

Well printed product, proper color and strong. There seemed to be some shifting of hte first few layers since all the holes/openings on the glass side had to be cut/trimmed to align with the rest, but once that was done everything fir together and it's working great!

  6. This kit is high quality!

Posted by Andrew on 5th Jan 2014

Order this kit if you want high quality printed parts almost ready to assemble. All of the parts were cleaned up, looked nice, and fit together very well. I ordered an extruder from makerfarm and they cleaned up all of the parts EXCEPT the main body! This kit is top notch for being printed parts.
